I am generally very excited and slightly nervous for The Workplace Learning Experience to begin, It is a great opportunity to try out different career opportunities and get a taste for the real world outside of high school. I am interested in the idea of a career in cosmetology because I love being creative, working with my hands, and helping people which this field of work defiantly seems to offer.
I spent a day searching for Workplace Learning Experience possibilities going to different high end salons in San Fransisco however not very many seemed truly interested in the idea of helping me with my project but one called Lavish Hair and Makeup. I got many cards and a one email for the manager of Lavish Hair and Makeup salon.
I put a good amount of thought into emailing back the manager and gave her as much information as I could about the WLE program at our school and tried my best to sound professional and applicative of her help. unfortunately I have not herd back from the manager yet and she did not give me any other way to contact her.
I also have done some networking by spreading the word about my interest in cosmetology and have herd from some people that said that the could have some good connections for me, now I have to follow the hints that everyone has given me and make some phone calls because I have learned that talking to someone directly on the phone is the best possible way to get things done. the hardest part though is actually getting the phone numbers and taking to people that are willing to help you.
